Workshop report on "Police - Public Interface: Making It Happen", Mumbai - Dr. Doel Mukerjee

A day long seminar was organised at the World Trade Centre in Mumbai on November 2nd, 2005 on ‘Police-Public Interface: Making it Happen.” This is a part of a series of workshops that the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI) are organising in different parts of the country. The main aim of this series is to catalyse discussions between the police and the people and how to ‘Make it Happen’.

The interface was designed to bring together the vibrant civil society of Mumbai and a few groups from outside the city, the government and the police establishment and reduce the present vacuum, which is evident in the communication channels between the police and the public by developing workable solutions and good practices for Maharashtra.
