This past year has been particularly special for all of us in the Tata Group as it marks the death centenary of our founder, Jamsetji Tata and the 100th birth anniversaries of JRD Tata and Naval Tata.
Individually and collectively, the visionary and far-reaching ideology of all three carried forward the work of nation building and set a standard for all future generations to follow.
JRD Tata, who led the Trust as chairman from 1969 till his death in 1993, held the work of the Trust close to his heart and spearheaded several projects of national importance. He ensured that the Tata name became – and continues to be – synonymous with ethics, values and good governance.
It is the same sense of integrity and primacy to nation building that guides the hands of the Trust. In 2004-2005, the Trust focused on diverse projects bringing about social change, including programs on watershed development, community health care, the right to food campaign and fostering Dalit leadership.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our partners for their abiding personal and professional sacrifices and for being uncompromising in their commitment to ensure social justice.
