The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust offers several scholarships/education grants for higher education. A panel of educationists interview candidates recommended by their respective colleges. These scholarships are provided till the student completes his or her first degree. |

General Education Grants - Closed for this Year. |

Sir Dorabji Tata Trust will accept applications seeking financial assistance to meet the cost of education in India, relevant to the year 2008-2009, only till 30th September 2008. |

The application may be made by way of a letter or by e-mail to sdtt@sdtatatrust.com. The applicant must clearly indicate the full residential address, telephone and / or mobile phone number. |

The applications by way of a letter / e-mail should reach the Trust office at Mulla House, 3rd floor, Fort, Mumbai 400 001, by 30th September 2008. |

If the applications are handed over personally, the application form will be handed over at that time itself. If the application is sent by post or e-mail, the form will be sent to the applicants. In any case, the forms duly filled in must reach the Trust on or before 15th October 2008. Forms received late will not be accepted. |

On the Trust receiving the application form duly filled in, a receipt will be sent to the applicant. Incomplete forms or forms with missing documents will not be processed further. This in no way may be construed as a commitment of the Trust to consider the application favourably. The selection / rejection of the applications will be communicated in writing to the applicants by 15st November 2008. The decision of the Trust in the matter will be final and binding. |

Sir Dorab Tata Merit Scholarships are given to students selected after inviting applications from nine Mumbai-based colleges. The scholarship amount ranges from Rs 3,000 per annum to Rs 9,600 per annum depending on the family’s income. During the year, 16 new students (as well as 50 renewals) were awarded the scholarships from nine colleges in Mumbai. |

Dr SR Moolgaokar Scholarship is awarded to two or three students of the Medical Research Society at the JJ Hospital till they complete their MBBS degree course. |

A scholarship of Rs 6,000 per annum is also given to a trainee at the Training Ship Rajendra Chanakya. |

M. Phil scholarships for a total amount of Rs 130,000 per annum are given to two scholars of the Tata Institute of Social Sciences. A scholarship of Rs 15,000 per annum is also awarded to a student from the Department of Urban and Rural Community Development of TISS. |

The Trust also offers Travel grants for short-term studies abroad as well as for attending conferences, presentation of papers for research and sports related activities. The grants range from Rs 20,000 to Rs 50,000. Applications are received throughout the year and the grants are processed based on an internal appraisal process |
