A century-old bond with the Tatas was further strengthened when the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), UK and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) entered into an academic alliance. The Jamsetji Tata Trust has sanctioned Rs 156.70 million to support research collaboration between LSE and TISS. The Memorandum of Understanding between the Jamsetji Tata Trust, TISS and LSE was signed at LSE in June 2007.

The grant was made to TISS to set up a joint program on social sciences and health studies with LSE. The program will focus on strengthening the teaching, training and research agendas of their health studies and social sciences programs. The partnership will particularly centre on the exchange of faculty, doctoral scholars, research collaboration, the development of teaching programs and resources sharing.
